Brag Book 101 Page 4

Upwards and Onwards as they say! Page 4 side 1 is complete and I found an owner for it! One of my friends LOVES Halloween is having a BIG Birthday so … instant gift!

For page 4, I am using 2-page inset files that I created for my Etsy store and Fiverr . These inserts fold up like folios and can be used as is , attach to a base page or resized to fit on half a page. The inserts are made up of many pages with flaps and folds that you can add envelopes, slots and other goodies to. Although I am decorating the pages in the Halloween theme, it is a template that can be used for any occasion and with any paper.

If you have been following the Brag Book 101 posts, you may remember that I am making a wedding book side by side with this but sizing the files to fit the 8 x8 pre-made book and pages. I will post the finished book at the end as I want the focus to be the construction of this book at then you can all be wowed with the second wedding book!

This is insert-1 with the mats …. they are not stuck down as I was still not sure where I wanted my magnets . I was also not sure if I was going to add envelopes/ pockets : This insert set has one envelope attached as shown in the photo with a key to highlight..

As I mentioned, for side 2 of page 4, I am using the layout insert-2. All the inserts fold up like a folio and have a flap that closes it all up. Insert-2 has lots of long flaps so it takes more paper to mat this insert, but it does give you a lot of space for journaling and photos.

In all of the inserts, flaps can be eliminated if needed and you can have lots of variety for the pages on how they attach, if you add pockets or waterfall pages to the existing layout or not. The only thing to worry about is making sure it does not get TOO bulky!.

Will finish up the mats and post the finish side 2 of page 4 next time.

My question is this: Will these now all fit in the hinge system I was planning on using? Will they lie flat and be easy to open? I am looking for all ideas and suggestions.

Brag Book 101: Page 3

For this page, I wanted to be a bit more creative but not sure if this is a good idea…let me explain why: Paper. Yes. Paper… It takes way too much paper to mat all the pages and inserts. I am thinking I will not have enough to finish my 6 pages!

BUT… I still ended up making this 3rd page with lots of interactive parts such as pull out, flaps and there is a lot of space for photos.

My page theme for page 3 is Witches, Bats, and Cats. Most are from the Silhouette Design store

Here is my layout

Side one

The first page is basic with a pocket. I am introducing gold cardstock so my patterned paper will be enough for the entire 6 pages I plan. The gold cardstock is from Dollar tree and comes in a pack with green, blue , red and silver.

This opens to an accordion page on the right and a pocket on the left.

There are pocket inserts for this side of the accordion pages and a large page for a photo under the accordion page.

Digital Images of files

Note that the pockets have not been changed to be pockets with a Halloween images attached but are plain basic generic pockets. To make the pockets themed, you need to weld the image of your choice to the pocket.

Side 2

There is a double tri shutter pull mechanism with a belly band holding it closed.

My Digital File

This is a simple double trifold. I am using another from a video tutorial by Brahm Craft ideas

Close it up again, flip it open to show a double vertical flap on the right and a pocket on the left.

….. this opens to a horizontal flap

Which in turn, opens to a large base page for a photo.

Brag Book 101: Base Page

Size of page

The base page I am using is a 6.5 in x 8.5 inch page that will be attached to the spine of a handmade book measuring 7 in x 9 in.

This template page is easily resize to fit any brag book.

The base page will be open along both long sides. One side will be attached to the binding and one open side will hold a tag.

The Page Makeup

Each page will have a side 1 and side 2.

Each side will hold many interactive pages such as envelopes, pockets, waterfall pages, tags and more. The pages could also be very simple and hold a pocket or a large photo mat: you get to choose.

Brag book 101: Page 2

Waterfall page with bellyband — belly band &waterfall pages

Since my last post, I have been busy with real life :job and family but finally got to put this post for page 2.

Well, here I am and page two is ready. In the first page I used zombie hands, gates, tombstone tags and a skeleton. This page is all about haunted houses.

To review a few details

My base page is the double page that looks like a large sealed envelope with the long ends cut out: very standard with Brag bookmakers.
I am using 6.5 W x 8.5 H for each of the 6 pages.

Front

The front of my brag book page 2 has a waterfall page with a belly band. I will call this side one of page two as there are a few pages that flip open on this side.

Under the last Waterfall pages is an area to hold journal tags and a large photo mat.

If you close up the the waterfall page back to the beginning, with the belly band keeping everything shut, this entire page then flips opens to a double spread: there is a pocket insert with slits for tags on the right (two shown here but up to 4 can fit.) and a flat page with a narrow pocket on the left for photos. The flourish is from the Silhouette design store

Back OR Side 2 of page two

The side 2 of page two has 2 envelopes. Tag insert not shown here.

These then flip open to reveal a flat page for photos. The envelopes on this side has some of the tags that came with the paper but I notice its a little big, so will trim them down later

Sides

One open side of the page is attached to the binding, (on the right not seen here). The other side of the page will have a tag insert. This tombstone tag is not the correct tag but shown as an example of how the tag will be inserted

I like this second page and have Page 3 all ready to photograph for tomorrow.

Below are the screenshot of what the files look like in Silhouette Studio, a free software that you can use with or without the silhouette machine to make pages like this . I filled the image with the same pattern as my paper.
